EPIC's WhisperXT
Utilizing new electric marine motor technology developed for the U. S. Navy, a high performance commercial electric outboard motor system has now been developed that makes electric propulsion a viable alternative to gasoline engines. It was pioneered by Outboard Electric Corp. of Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Two former G. E. engineers who developed the new technology for the U. S. Navy's Torpedo Defense Program founded Outboard Electric in developing OEC's MP 5000; recently, OEC was acquired by Electric Propulsion Innovation Corp. (EPIC), of Annapolis, MD, in order to develop the next generation in this successful series, the WhisperXT. The high quality of the product remains consistent, however.
